How Can I Become A Fat-Burning Machine?
ResumeFor months, "Food, We Need To Talk" host Juna Gjata asked every expert she interviewed the same question: "If you could tell people to change only one thing that would have the biggest impact on their health for the rest of their lives, what would it be?"
Their expertise ranged from nutrition to metabolism to how super tasty foods affect the brain. She expected them to answer with pointers like "eat more vegetables," or "increase your protein," or "cut down on the cheesecake."
But, limited to just one recommendation for lifelong health, none of them focused on food. All had the same answer: just exercise. (Note: This brought visible joy to Juna's co-host, Dr. Eddie Phillips, founder of the Institute of Lifestyle Medicine and a self-described "muscle doctor.")
In episode five, we emphasize one particular type of exercise: resistance training — also known as strength training — as offering unique benefits and quick progress.
You can read highlights from the episode here, and find a primer on resistance training from the American College of Sports Medicine here.
