Lisa Smith-McQueenie is WBUR’s Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. In this inaugural role she is responsible for providing vision, leadership and facilitation of the organization’s commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) in both internal contexts and in external facing work.

As a part of the senior leadership team she will partner with all colleagues advising on opportunities and strategies to advance DEI in all facets of the work with the concrete goal of diversifying leadership and staffing across the organization.

Before joining WBUR, Lisa spent decades in higher education as a visionary thought leader and strategic partner skilled in the development, facilitation and cultivation of student and employee engagement and professional development initiatives. Through a myriad of leadership roles, she promoted a culture that values and supports diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging as an institutional, educational and organizational priority.

Outside of work Lisa enjoys good food and good company. She is a member of several professional, civic, and community service organizations. Although a native New Yorker, Lisa has made Boston her home for the last 30+ years planting roots in the city where she raised and continues to dote on her two adult daughters Nia & Shay.
